Fertility Massage: Timing

The fertility massage has proven benefits for women that are having a hard time conceiving. However, the timing of the massage is essential. While it is best if performed just before intercourse, there are also other times of the day the massage can be done.

Waiting Period

After starting the fertility massage, some specialists recommend you wait at least 1 to 2 months before trying to conceive, so that to allow the massage therapy to start being effective. The massage can improve the quality of the eggs, make the menstrual cycle regular and reduce pelvic adhesions and ovarian cysts. Just a few massage sessions are not enough to be effective and reduce the possible reproductive system problems you may have, so wait a few weeks or months before you try to get pregnant.

Before Intercourse

The fertility massage can only be performed between the time your menstrual period stops and ovulation (happens 12 to 16 days after your first day of menstruation). The massage is not recommended outside this time, as it can have negative effects on the menstruation and egg production.

The ideal time to perform the fertility massage is 30 to 45 minutes before the intercourse, as the massage will stimulate the blood flow and can increase your chances of becoming pregnant. In addition, the massage will also have a calming effect, so you will be more prepared. The massage takes 10 to 30 minutes, depending on how complex your massage routine is. Give yourself 10 to 20 minutes between the massage and the intercourse.

Find a Quiet Time

If you don’t find the time to do the massage before intercourse, you should find a different time. Performing the fertility massage before the intercourse is ideal, but the massage will also be beneficial if performed at a different time.

During the fertility massage, you will have to be calmed and relaxed, so that the massage will be more effective. Find a quiet time during the day. You may prefer to perform the massage in the morning just after you have woken up and are relaxed. Bear in mind that you should perform the massage on an empty stomach.

You may also perform the massage in the evening, after a warm bath when you feel relaxed. Make sure your bladder is not full when you do the massage, as you may add pressure on it, and it may be painful.

Times to Avoid

The fertility massage shouldn’t be performed during work or in between activities, when you are stressed for time. If you rush the massage, chances are that you won’t perform the massage correctly.

Don’t do the massage:

  • Immediately after meals
  • If you feel pain
  • If you have cramps
  • If you're expecting your menstrual cycle
  • If you suspect you are pregnant
  • If you are pregnant
  • If you are lactating
  • When your bladder if full
