Nuphar Luteum
Nuphar luteum is the Latin name for the yellow pond lily, which is also know as the cow lily or the spatterdock. The yellow pond lily belongs to the family of Nymphaeaceae.
The plant lives in watery areas, mostly in ponds, lakes and static water, having its roots in the ground. The roots may grow up to 16 inches (40 cm). However, the leaves of the plant are found on the surface of the water and may often have flowers and seeds. The plant is pollinated by insects and can produce flowers during the summer months (i.e. June to September).
Uses of Nuphar Luteum for Male Fertility
The Nuphar luteum or the yellow pond lily can be used to increase male fertility. Both the leaves and the flowers may be used, but these have to be collected and dried first. The dried plant, the roots and flowers can be used as tea infusions. However, the roots may be very bitter.
The yellow water lily may also be used in the form of solution, and a few drops can be added to the patient’s water or meals 2 to 3 times per day. The seeds of the pond lily are edible and can also be recommended to boost male fertility. If ground, the seeds can be added to flour, oatmeal or cornmeal and consumed regularly.
Homeopaths may also use the yellow pond lily plant in various dilutions, mixed with other ingredients that may also help fertility. Used on its own, the effects of the nuphar luteum plant on male fertility are believed to be:
- Increased sperm count
- Increased sexual desire (libido)
These effects of the pond lily may appear after at least 2 to 3 months of treatment.
Other Uses of Nuphar Luteum
The spatterdock may be used to reduce skin dermatitis. Topical ointments may contain yellow water lily extracts.
Other Male Fertility Stimulants
Natural stimulants are the most recommended to improve male fertility, as these have no side effects and are most likely to give results faster than medication treatment.
The sperm quality and its motility can be improved by using the following ingredients:
- Damiana, has similar effects as the yellow pond lily, improving sperm count and libido
- Selenium metallicum
- Zincum metallicum
- Conium
