Delaware's First Use of Frozen Eggs is Successful
One of the latest advancements in
in vitro fertilization is the use of frozen-then-thawed eggs to achieve pregnancy. Although freezing eggs is a technology that began three decades ago, it has only been with recent improvements in thawing and using frozen eggs that this type of treatment has started to become more widespread. It's a way for women to have more control over when they want to use their eggs, especially in cases where they may be risking infertility if they don't freeze their eggs early (such as prior to undergoing cancer treatment).
A medical facility in Delaware
reports that the region's first real use of this type of infertility treatment appears to be successful with the expectant mother healthy in her second trimester of the pregnancy. This means that increased interest in this procedure in the area is likely to be seen in the year or two to come. Learn more here.
