New Hope for Cancer Patients

For years recovered cancer patients have struggling to successfully conceive after chemotherapy and radiation. But now there may be fertility hope for these survivors. Fertile Hope a New York based cancer society is offering patients with information, financial services and education about how to live life to the fullest post-cancer. The organization has made the Human Ooctye Preservation Experience Registry which is:
Northeast Ohio Medical Industry and Hospital News said, "The registry hopes to enroll about 400 women of reproductive age over the next three years who will have their eggs frozen and eventually thawed and fertilized. Researchers will track the eggs to study the safety and effectiveness of egg freezing. Freezing eggs is not the only option available for doctors who are trying to preserve a cancer patient's fertility."
Doctors say that limiting the damage done to ovaries and cervix is key to maintaining fertility. It is said that the drug Lupron is necessary for patients undergoing chemo who want to keep a healthy fertility chance.
