Octuplets Incite Stronger Sanctions

After the infamous octuplets birth last week, California is calling for more stringent regulations for fertility clinics nationwide. Nadya Suleman an unemployed 33-year-old single mother of 14 who gave birth to octuplets after In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) has sparked discussion about newfound fertility laws.
Bloomberg News reports, "She probably had the multiple embryos implanted in her by "a rogue clinic," said Jeffrey Steinberg, a Los Angeles fertility doctor who wasn't involved in her treatment. While implanting that many embryos exceeds the guidelines of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, it doesn't violate any law."
Fertility experts are saying the lack of regulation on this case should be the instigator and poster child for why America needs tighter fertility laws. Many worry that the single-mother of 14 will not be capable of sufficiently providing both monetarily and emotionally for the children. The case has received much notoriety and scrutiny in recent weeks.
