Physicians' Background
Collin B. Smikle, MD FACOG
Dr. Smikle is the founder and Medical Director of Laurel Fertility Care. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as reproductive endocrinology and infertility, he has extensive experience in IVF, all assisted reproductive technologies and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He is a highly respected physician, researcher, teacher and medical author.
Dr. Smikle graduated YaleMedicalSchool (1985) and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital at HarvardMedicalSchool (1989). After residency, he served in the USAF Medical Corps and held a teaching position at WilfordHallMedicalCenter in Texas. He received specialty training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of California San Francisco where he also did extensive research in oocyte and follicular development and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). He felt that infertility patients needed a practice that had all of the technology of a large practice, but the individual attention of a small practice and therefore founded Laurel Fertility Care in 2005.
Dr. Smikle has authored over 25 medical publications, book chapters, and abstracts. He is a member of American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the AmericanCollege of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the Bay Area Reproductive Endocrinologists Society, and the San Francisco Obstetrical and Gynecological Society. He recently joined Fertile Hope’s Sharing Hope program to help women diagnosed with cancer access options to preserve their fertility prior to chemotherapy and radiation.
Lee C. Kao, MD, PhD
Dr. Kao was born in Taipei, Taiwan and a native speaker in Mandarin and Taiwanese. He obtained his medical degree from TaipeiMedicalCollege, now TaipeiMedicalUniversity. After completing his mandatory military service, Dr. Kao studied at the ivy league University of Pennsylvania and earned his PhD for his research in molecular biology focusing on human placental development.
Dr. Kao completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at GeorgetownUniversity and fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Pennsylvania. His extensive research focused on polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis-related infertility. He had been on faculty at StanfordUniversity and UCLA,
and was co-director for Center for Fertility and Reproductive Medicine at Cedars-SinaiMedicalCenter in Los Angeles. He joined Laurel Fertility Care in 2007. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
Dr. Kao has authored numerous articles and book chapters and continues research on human embryo implantation and endometriosis. He is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the AmericanCollege of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI), and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART).
Aimee D. Eyvazzadeh, MD, MPH
Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh, is a native of the Bay Area. She is a graduate of UCLA School of Medicine. After completing her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at BethIsraelDeaconessMedicalCenter and HarvardMedicalSchool, she completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at University of Michigan. She also completed a Masters in Public Health in Health Management and Policy at University of Michigan.
Dr. Eyvazzadeh has presented her research at the national meetings of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, Endocrine Society and AmericanCollege of Ob/Gyn. Her research has been published in several journals including Fertility and Sterility, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Menopause. Dr. Eyvazzadeh co-authored book chapters on ultrasonography and male infertility with national leaders in the field of reproductive endocrinology. She is also a reviewer of a major scientific journal. Dr. Eyvazzadeh is a fellow of the AmericanCollege of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and continues to contribute to research in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
Marlane Angle, PhD, HCLD
Dr. Angle received her PhD in 1983 from AuburnUniversity in Reproductive Physiology. She completed two NIH (National Institute of Health)-sponsored postdoctoral fellowships at universities in Texas and then moved to San Francisco for her IVF training at the University of California, San Francisco.
Over the past twenty years she has been an IVF Laboratory Director in Las Vegas, Seattle, and Little Rock. She has been licensed as a High Complexity Laboratory Director through the American Association of Bioanalysts since 1994. Dr. Angle teaches oocyte and embryo vitrification around the world and is an adjunct faculty member for the embryology master’s program at EasternVirginiaMedicalSchool. She serves as a laboratory inspector for the College of American Pathologists, participates in several committees and task forces for ASRM, and is co-owner of International Reproductive Information and Services, L.L.C. (IRIS). She has published more than 50 scientific articles, book chapters and abstracts and is an ad hoc reviewer for Fertility and Sterility. Dr. Angle joined Laurel Fertility Care in 2008 as director of embryology and our state-of-the-art laboratory.
