Physicians' Background

Dr. Mark Bush

Dr. Mark Bush is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He graduated with High Honors from the University of California, Berkeley, with a B.A. in Biology. After obtaining his M.D. from Georgetown, he completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at William Beaumont AMC and then completed a three-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Bush has extensive experience in all aspects of Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility, and Assisted Reproductive Technologies. He served with distinction as the Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Division Director at two academic institutions during the six years following the completion of his fellowship. He has held the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington, and then Associate Professor at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. Among his many awards is the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists CREOG National Faculty Award in 2001.

Dr. Bush is a member of numerous medical societies including being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, which reflects his interest and expertise in hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and open reproductive tract surgery. He has published numerous basic science and clinical papers in the field of women's health.

Since joining Conceptions, Dr. Bush has collaborated with physicians in the community to deliver excellence in surgical and fertility care. He has been featured on Denver television stations 2, 4, 7 and 9. Dr. Bush is a sought after speaker, lecturing on his novel and innovative protocols for the treatment of IVF from California to New York. Dr. Bush combines this medical knowledge and competence with a compassionate and caring approach as he assists couples in overcoming their infertility

Dr. Michael Swanson

Dr. Michael Swanson is a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

Dr. Swanson earned his degree in Chemistry with high distinction at Colorado State University and his M.D. from the University of Colorado. He completed an internship and a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Since 1981, Dr. Swanson has been in the private practice of Infertility, Gynecology and Obstetrics. He has performed in vitro fertilization (IVF) since 1988 and has assisted thousands of couples in their dream of becoming a family.

He has served as chairman of quality assurance in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Swedish Medical Center and was on the founding medical executive committee at Littleton Hospital. Several times in recent years, 5280, a prominent Denver periodical, has chosen Dr. Swanson as one of Denver's "Top Docs." He has also been awarded the distinction of Denver's best Gynecologist/Obstetrician from Channel Four News. 
 
Dr. Swanson's current interests include participation in all aspects of gynecologic surgery and caring for women in need of infertility treatment, including IVF. He has given numerous continuing medical education lectures and public seminars on infertility, assisted reproductive technology, endometriosis, laser and endoscopic surgery

Dr. Von Wald

Dr. Von Wald is board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and Obstetrics and Gynecology.  A South Dakota native, she attended the University of South Dakota for her bachelor’s degree and the University of South Dakota School of Medicine for her medical degree.  She then completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita and Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.  She was in private practice in Wichita for one year and then obtained her fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston IVF, and Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. 

Dr. Von Wald then returned to Wichita in 2007 to work in private practice seeing a broad range of infertility and reproductive endocrinology patients.  During this time, she also held the position of assistant professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita and was actively involved in both clinical research and teaching of residents and medical students.  In addition, she holds a masters degree in public health from the University of Kansas School of Medicine.  Her interests include in vitro fertilization, fertility preservation for oncology patients, primary ovarian insufficiency (premature ovarian failure), and pediatric and adolescent gynecology.

Dr. Von Wald is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and the American Medical Association. She is also a fellow in the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Nearly all fertility problems (85-90 percent) are treatable with medical therapies such as medication, surgical repair of reproductive organs or assisted reproductive technologies.

Although one in six couples desiring pregnancy will be affected by fertility problems, it often comes as a surprise.
