The Fertility Institute of Hawaii was founded by Dr. John Frattarelli who is a world renowned expert in infertility and In Vitro Fertilization with over 15 years experience treating infertile couples. Dr. Frattarelli has participated in over 25,000 fertility treatment cycles resulting in over 8000 babies. This makes Dr. Frattarelli one of the most experienced fertility physicians performing infertility treatments and IVF in Hawaii.

John L. Frattarelli, MD
Dr. John L. Frattarelli is the Medical, Practice and Laboratory Director for the Fertility Institute of Hawaii which provides IVF services to Hawaii, the western US, Asia and Australia with offices in Honolulu, Kailua, Hilo, and Maui. Dr. Frattarelli is one of only a few board certified fellowship trained reproductive endocrinologists in Hawaii. He formerly served for 6 years (2000 to 2006) as the Medical and Practice Director for the Tripler IVF Institute in Honolulu, HI. During that time, he also served as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. As an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaii, he mentored and educated many medical students and residents who are currently practicing in Hawaii.
Dr. Frattarelli completed his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. He completed an Internship and Residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC followed by a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.
From 2006 to 2008, Dr. Frattarelli was a physician with Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey, one of the largest and most successful reproductive medicine groups in the world. At Reproductive Medicine Associates, Dr. Frattarelli was the Clinical Research Director and under his direction the practice received national and international attention with multiple research awards, protocols, and publications. During this time, he was also an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ.
Dr. Frattarelli returned to Hawaii in 2006 and co-founded Advanced Reproductive Medicine & Gynecology of Hawaii which provides advanced gynecologic and infertility care to the patients of Hawaii. In 2010, Dr. Frattarelli founded the Fertility Institute of Hawaii which provides state of the art advanced fertility services including In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Intrauterine Inseminations (IUI), ovulation induction, and fertility preservation using embryo, egg, or sperm cyroperservation.
Dr. Frattarelli is a member of several national and international societies and has served as Chair for the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Associates and Chair for the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Subspecialist CREOG Examination Committee. He is currently the Clinical Director of the Executive Council for the Society for Assisted Reproduction and Technology. He is an avid award-winning researcher and lecturer with several national and international presentations and published manuscripts. He serves as an ad hoc reviewer for more than 10 peer review medical journals. His research interests have focused on reproductive endocrinology and ways to improve infertility diagnosis and treatment, particularly in the areas of diminished ovarian reserve, infertility surgery, ultrasonography, polycystic ovarian syndrome, recurrent miscarriages, endometriosis, ovulation induction, male aging, and in vitro fertilization.

LeighAnn C. Frattarelli, MD, MPH
Dr. LeighAnn C. Frattarelli sees Gynecology and Infertility patients in the Kailua infertility office. She is a board certified obstetrician gynecologist with a strong interest in public health as it pertains to gynecology and reproduction. From 2006 to 2008 she worked for Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey providing infertility care to several thousand women. She then returned to Hawaii to cofound the Advanced Reproductive Medicine & Gynecology of Hawaii clinic on Oahu where she has continued to provide extensive infertility care for women in Hawaii.
From 2000 until 2006, Dr Frattarelli was an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the John A. Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu, HI. During that time she maintained a busy private practice, was the Director of Medical Student Education for the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, taught residents from the University of Hawaii and Tripler Army Medical Center, and ran the Adolescent/Teen Clinic at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children. She was also an active member of the Emergency Contraceptive Working Group that was instrumental in passing and implementing the bill allowing pharmacy access to emergency contraception and the Perinatal Depression Network that educated the community and physicians about the realities of postpartum and peripartum depression.
Dr. LeighAnn Frattarelli completed her undergraduate degree at Baylor University and received her M.D. from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center. During her two year stay in New Jersey, she received a Masters in Public Health from The Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. She has worked on several clinical research projects centered on reproductive health.
