There Are Many Different Ways That a Couple Can Get Fertility Help

On any given day, there are thousands of couples that are expecting a child. These couples might or might not have planned the pregnancy, it all depends on their individual situations. However, that fact alone is enough to really frustrate couples who desperately want to conceive, but have not been able to as of yet.

For couples who find themselves in such a position, it is very important for them to realize that fertility help is, in fact, available. Many couples who think that they just need to keep trying naturally, and conception will happen eventually. However, a good guideline to follow is that, after a year of trying naturally, a couple should start seeking fertility help if they wish to increase their chances of getting pregnant.

Obviously, couples will be curious to know what kinds of fertility help are available. The answer to that question can only be answered if both the male and female submit to various medical tests. These tests will help to determine why the couple has not conceived thus far. For example, in the case of the male, he will need to submit sperm, because he could have a low sperm count, or malformed sperm. The woman could have problems with her uterus, or her ovaries.

It is important to note that sometimes the lifestyle of the couple plays a significant role in the reasons why a couple cannot conceive. Stress is one of the most common causes, because whether it is suffered by a man or a woman, it affects their hormonal systems. This is turn has the potential the affect their reproductive systems.

Once the source of the infertility has been determined, then the various options will be presented to the couple. One of the first options for a couple, regardless of the source of their conception problems, is artificial insemination. This has been found to be especially effective for men who have a low sperm count. In this procedure, the male gives his sperm, and the sperm is then injected into the woman. The goal is for immediate fertilization, and thus for the fertilized egg to attach itself to the uterus.

Another option for the couple is in vitro fertilization. In this scenario, the sperm and the egg are extracted from each party. Then, the egg is fertilized by the sperm in a laboratory setting. Actually, more than one egg will be extracted from the woman in order to increase the chances of conception in this manner. Once the egg is fertilized, it will be placed back into the woman (who, at this point, has been taking fertility drugs to help the process.

Sometimes, a couple might elect to participate in surrogacy. This is often done when a homosexual couple wishes to have a child, or when the female in a heterosexual relationship has had frequent miscarriages. In this situation, an egg is fertilized by sperm, and that fertilized egg is implanted into a gestational carrier. For more information on the various kinds of fertility help that are available, it is important for the couple to seek out the professional advice of a fertility specialist.
