About Egg Donation

Egg donation consists of one woman choosing to give her eggs to help another woman become pregnant. Women who want to be donors go must go through an intense screening process.

The egg donor procedure begins with hormone injections that help stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs. Once the eggs are ready for retrieval, a fine needle is inserted through the vaginal wall, into the follicles where the eggs are the removed.

Egg retrieval usually only takes 10-15 minutes and can be done under general anesthesia in the office.
