I had a Tubal Ligation in 2000 is it still possible to have a Tubal Reversal?

Is nine years after a tubal ligation too long to have a successful tubal reversal?

The length of time having had a BTL is not usually a factor in whether or not a tubal reversal would be recommended or a indication of potential success. The most important factors in whether a tubal reversal would be recommended are: What is the current ovarian function, and how much length of tube(s) remain that can successfully be "put back together." You should expect when making an appointment to discuss scheduling a tubal reversal to be asked to bring the pathology report from your tubal ligation, as that is where the physicians will review how the tubal ligation was done and how much of the tube(s) remain. You will also have lab work done at some point following your consult to evaluate ovarian function. Once this information is reviewed, the physician will be able to give you an indication of whether tubal reversal in recommended, the potential success rate, and what other options might be recommended. It is also standard to have the spouse/partner collect a semen specimen to evaluate his semen analysis.

They could probably be reversed, but you might well want to consider in vitro fertilization as an alternative. IVF is much less invasive, and the success rates are very good these days.

I had the Hulka clips put on during a tubal ligation procedure when I was 24 years old. I am now 30 and my husband and I want another child. We are uncertain if my irregular periods are being caused by some of the Hulka clips coming off, or maybe the tube has grown around them. Is this likely and would either cause irregular periods? Also, would tubal reversal be a good option if we are considering having another child?
