I'm currently in a lesbian relationship. Can my partner's egg be transfered to me so that I can carry the baby? If so, is IVF the best method?

Hi, I am Crystal. I am currently in a relationship with a female and we are looking to extend our family. I have had a son previously. I would like to know the best process to have her egg in me so I can have her baby. Any suggestions?

Good morning! My name is Kelsey Forbes. I am a nurse at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group (PREG) in Greenville, SC.

It is very exciting to hear that you and your partner want to extend your family! To answer your question, IVF is the only option. The procedure would require us to retrieve you or your partner's eggs, use donor sperm for fertilization, and transfer the resulting embryo(s) into you or your partner's uterus. This would hopefully result in your or your partner becoming pregnant and carrying the baby. We have done this before with other couples!

This is a great option to involve you both in the conception, pregnancy, and delivery of a child. There are some steps to take to get everything organized, including testing the both of you and determining which of you is more suitable for the procedure.

Seek out and consult a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist.
