What are my chances of getting pregnant after a tubal reversal?

I just had my tubal reversal and the dye used to determine whether my tubes were open did not go all the way through. My doctor said my tubes looked wonderful and that he thinks my uterus or cervix was tilted and cramping the tubes. How often does this kind of thing happen? What are my changes of getting pregnant after a tubal reversal, especially if the dye did not go all the way through the tubes?

Did you ask your doctor who performed the surgery what your chances are? Sometimes there are things that can happen during the hysterosalpingogram (HSG) which can cause dye to not go through (e.g spasm that make it appear as if there is an obstruction when in fact there isn't). I do not agree that the reason the dye is not filling is due to "tilting of the uterus;" otherwise known as retroflexion or retroversion if tilted backwards or anteflexion or anteversion if tilted forward. Either way, those positions are a normal variant and not responsible for pathology per se. Notwithstanding, it is very hard to determine what your chances are based on the information at hand. I would suggest you obtain a consultation with another reproductive specialist to get a second opinion.

I had the Hulka clips put on during a tubal ligation procedure when I was 24 years old. I am now 30 and my husband and I want another child. We are uncertain if my irregular periods are being caused by some of the Hulka clips coming off, or maybe the tube has grown around them. Is this likely and would either cause irregular periods? Also, would tubal reversal be a good option if we are considering having another child?
