Why in zygote intrafallopian transfer is the zygote placed in the fallopian tube rather than the uterus?

I'm confused. Why is the zygote placed in the fallopian tube rather than directly in the uterus? Aren't the odds of pregnancy higher if the zygote is in the prime spot for uterine implantation?
