10 years ago I had Filshie clips on my tubes, and they have been removed since then. Am I able to have a baby now?

I had the original surgery in 2004. I've had really bad pain in my right side and had a CT scan done. The clip on the right tube was off, so the doctor went in and removed both of them. Can I get pregnant now?

The best way to determine if your tubes are open and functional would be to have an hysterosalpingogram (HSG) done.

Most likely not. Your fallopian tubes are still occluded (blocked) from the filshie clip placement even if they were later removed. The damage to the tube is already done. Your options for conception with prior tubal ligation are either IVF (invitro-fertilization) bypassing the tubes and getting the eggs and sperm together in the IVF lab or doing a tubal reanastomosis (tubal reversal) through an abdominal incision. success is not guaranteed with either option and chances for pregnancy depend on many factors including your age, egg quality/number remaining in ovaries, semen parameters, uterus, etc. You can see a REI (reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist) for an evaluation to see which option may be best for you.

You will not become pregnant if the clips have just been removed. The tube ends have to be rejoined after the clips have been removed.

I had the Hulka clips put on during a tubal ligation procedure when I was 24 years old. I am now 30 and my husband and I want another child. We are uncertain if my irregular periods are being caused by some of the Hulka clips coming off, or maybe the tube has grown around them. Is this likely and would either cause irregular periods? Also, would tubal reversal be a good option if we are considering having another child?
