How old is too old to do IVF?

For a couple who are in their early fifties (have a biological son in his twenties), who want to have more kid(s), is it too late to use our own sperm/egg womb?

Most IVF centers have an age cut-off of 40-44 years. The reason is that the chance for pregnancy is very low past age 44. Women older than this have far better success using donor eggs. The cut-off age for utilizing donor eggs is generally age 50-52 as this is the natural age of menopause. The age limit does vary somewhat from center to center.
