Hi,
I suggest you contact an FDA approved sperm bank to inquire about how to become a sperm donor and to learn about their specific requirements. Requirements and protocols vary from facility to facility.

It is wonderful to be able to help give the gift of family to someone! Men that usually opt to donate sperm will need to meet several criteria. These criteria vary a little between different sperm banks; however, the basic testing includes screening for infectious diseases and disclosing some medical history. Men willing to donate sperm should look online for the sperm bank nearest them and contact the facilities directly to find out their qualification for donating! PREG provides treatment to couples who need to use sperm donors to achieve pregnancy; however, we are not a sperm bank.

Each sperm bank has their individual criteria. I would suggest calling one, such as California Cryobank, for further information.

Egg and sperm donors have to meet criteria for educational and personal attainment. Many would-be donors would not be your choice. The majority are screened out by the interview process. Personal interviews are carried out by professionals who share your goal of mentally and physically healthy children.
The extensive family history is supplemented with carrier screening for genetic disorders like cystic fibrosis. Their lifestyle needs to be stable and sexual relationships must be heterosexual and anonymous. Sperm and egg donors are screened with FDA-mandated blood tests for all sexually transmitted diseases. In the case of semen, the donor is retested in 6 months prior to the release of the semen.

Thank you for your interest in sperm donation. Unfortunately, we do not bank sperm at PREG for anonymous sperm donation. The FDA has outlined specific criteria that must be met in order to become a sperm donor. There are several FDA-compliant sperm banks that would be able to accommodate you in becoming a donor. You may want to research sperm banks such as Xytex, California Cryobank, Seattle Sperm Bank, or Manhattan Cryobank. These are just a few suggestions.
