My partner and I have been trying to become pregnant for 7.5 months, should we keep trying or look into other options?

My fiance and I have been trying for some time to become pregnant and nothing seems to work. I am 20 years old, and he is 29. We have been trying for 7.5 months. Should we keep trying or should we look into other options?

At 7-8 months with no reason to suspect a problem and your age, you don't need to do a lot of testing yet. Be sure you have timed intercourse well. The new rule is more is better. Don't wait every other day. Use ovulation prediction kits to help timing. If you want to do a test, there are now over-the-counter kits for sperm counts. I am not sure how available they are, but they are reasonably accurate.

Hello and thank you for your question. Since you are only 20 years old, you may try for one full year before an evaluation is needed. 85% of couples achieve pregnancy in the first year. Older couples (35 or older) may start an evaluation earlier. This however counts if you are both healthy and you are having regular ovulatory cycles.
