In Vitro Fertilization: 7 Stress Relieving Activities to Do during the 2WW

The In Vitro Fertilization is an assisted reproductive method that will involve fertilizing an egg with viable sperm in a lab dish. If the fertilization takes place, the embryo will be inserted into the womb of the mother to be. The embryo will require up to 2 weeks to become implanted on the walls of the uterus. This is known as the 2 week wait (2WW). The 2 week waiting period can be a nerve wracking time and you will need to relax, so that the outcome of the in vitro fertilization is not affected by that fact that you are stressed. You will have to find some activities that will relieve stress.

1. Walking

Taking a long walk with your partner or a good friend can take your mind off the obsession that you may develop during the wait period. You will breathe in fresh air and can share your worries with your friend. If talking about the pregnancy doesn't help, you can try a different approach. Have your friend talk about her life and issues and try to get fully absorbed by listening to your friend.

2. Meet Old Friends

Meeting some old friends that you haven't seen for a long time and catching up can also help you concentrate on other things, different than your present condition. Arrange a meeting and try to enjoy.

3. Take a Short Vacation

If you can afford it, take a short vacation or travel someplace nice for the weekend. Being in a different location can make you happy and have a relaxing effect. Alternatively, you can visit your sister or your parents.

4. Work

Getting involved in the work you do may have a few benefits. You will be bound to think about different issues, other than your own. Try challenging tasks and set deadlines, so that you will have to be active.

5. Find a Hobby

6. Exercise

Even though strenuous exercise is not recommended during the 2 WW, you can still perform a few easy workout routines such as pilates or yoga. Exercising will make you feel better and will also relieve stress. Make sure you don't lift more than 15 pounds, and stay away from activities such as jogging.

7. Join an Online Forum

If you are stressed, you may want to talk to other women that are in the same situation as you are. Join an online forum with women undergoing in vitro fertilization, and you will be able to read posts from other women that are going through their 2WW, or others that have already been through this experience. You can also ask questions.
