I have MS and have had a tubal ligation, ablation and right ovary/cyst removed. Can I get pregnant if I have a tubal reversal?

In March '13, I had a tubal, ablation, & right ovary/cyst removed. I've had no periods since. I previously used Mirena for 4 years with no periods. I also have multiple sclerosis. I only had the procedures done because my doctor advised them. I'm 30 years old & want a 2nd child. Is there any way this is possible if I get a tubal reversal?

Depending on the type of tubal ligation that was performed, you may be a candidate for reversal. However, due to the fact you had an endometrial ablation and are not having periods, that means that your uterine lining (endometrium) has been destroyed (which is why ablations are performed) and would not be able to sustain a pregnancy even if your were able to get your tubes reversed. The only option would be to do IVF, retrieve your eggs, fertilize them with your partner's sperm and then use a surrogate to carry the pregnancy since your uterus is now non-functional.

Without menstrual cycles, it is a possibility that the ablation ruined the lining of your uterus, which would make it extremely difficult to conceive even if your tubes were reversed. Your doctor ablated and burnt your uterus because he tied your tubes. The intent was that you did not want more children. If you want a child, you will most likely need IVF treatment and you might need someone else to carry your baby.

I had the Hulka clips put on during a tubal ligation procedure when I was 24 years old. I am now 30 and my husband and I want another child. We are uncertain if my irregular periods are being caused by some of the Hulka clips coming off, or maybe the tube has grown around them. Is this likely and would either cause irregular periods? Also, would tubal reversal be a good option if we are considering having another child?
